Nutella Croissants

Ferrero UK is recalling specific batches of its frozen Nutella croissant over fears they may contain pieces of metal making them unsafe to eat.

The recall affects two batch codes (L126Z39 and L127Z39) of the four-pack frozen croissants and 48-piece boxes with the best before dates of 6 and 7 May 2027.

Further batches of Nutella Croissants – a bake-off pastry filled with Nutella – are also being recalled in Belgium, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Romania, and Spain alongside batches of the Nutella Muffin. The muffins are not being recalled in the UK and no other Ferrero product is affected so the firm said ‘consumers can continue to enjoy their products as usual’.

Food safety authorities have been informed in the respective countries, and Ferrero is coordinating with customers and partners to ensure the effective recall of the impacted products from the market. Consumers who may have purchased the affected products are asked not to consume them and return the products to the point of purchase or contact the Ferrero consumer careline.

Ferrero has not disclosed the source of the metal contamination at this stage.

Exclusive research by British Baker found that there were 113 recalls in the bakery market between 2021 and 2025, with reasons behind these including the presence of glass, small stones, and even moths. Undeclared allergens were the most common reason for bakery products to be recalled, followed by contamination of foreign bodies such as stones and metal.

There have been several recalls in 2026 so far, including one from Brioche Pasquier for its brioche rolls due to possible plastic contamination and from First National Bakery for an 18-strong range of Caribbean-style bread products due to potential rodent contamination at its West Bromwich site. A rodent contamination risk also forced Bradford-based manufacturer Saffron Pastries to recall 25 branded biscuits and cake slices.
