FN Bakery has issued a recall for an 18-strong range of Caribbean-style bread products because of potential rodent contamination at its West Bromwich site.
A recall alert posted by the Food Standards Agency (FSA) on 13 April revealed the company was recalling various products under its First National Bakery brand including sliced and unsliced loaves, bulla bread, coco bread, corn bread, buns, and items described as Mongoose, Twist, and Wing (see full list below).
These products may be contaminated by rodents, noted the FSA, advising consumers not to eat the ones they have bought. Instead, they should return the products to the store they were purchased in for a full refund.
FN Bakery Limited has been approached for comment.
It operates a production unit on Kelvin Way Trading Estate in West Bromwich, supplying markets, retailers, and wholesalers nationwide.
In a Facebook post, FN Bakery said it prides itself on being master bakers of traditional West Indian style loaves. “It is our attention to the finer details which makes our products stand out amongst other bakers,” the company wrote. ”The quality of our products is important to us; which is why a number of our products are hand-finished giving our products that personal touch.”

British Baker recently published its analysis of bakery product recalls over the past five years. It found that undeclared allergens were the most common reason for recalls, followed by contamination of foreign bodies, then microbial contamination, and finally labelling errors.
Two months ago, Brioche Pasquier issued a recall for its Pitch Chocolate and Hazelnut Brioches due to a risk of them containing pieces of plastic.
