Teacakes and meringues supplier Lees of Scotland has promoted its pastel-coloured Macaringues meringue shells by summoning a unicorn to Glasgow’s Kelvingrove Park.
The move follows consumers using the almond flavour Macaringues in unicorn-inspired recipes, said Lees of Scotland NPD manager Sheevaun Thomas.
“Our inspiration for the Macaringues has come from the macarons which Paris is famous for, but with a little Scottish twist: they are completely different to anything we have previously developed before here at Lees,” she added.
“We’ve worked hard to develop the recipe, and have created a really versatile product that can be used for all occasions.”
Available in three colours – pink, lilac and green – Macaringues have proved popular with brides-to-be, said Thomas.
Shimmer the unicorn was joined in Kelvingrove Park by a model wearing a rainbow-coloured headpiece featuring Macaringues.
Sold in retail packs of 30, Lees Macaringues are both gluten- and nut-free, and are available in most major retailers, added the firm.
