Pancakes, brownies, and cheesecakes are just some of the inspirations for Asda’s summer celebration cake range for 2022.

The retailer has unveiled the sweet treats alongside a range of summer savoury items suitable for picnics and barbecues such as a Wensleydale Quiche and Chorizo Pork Pie.

“This is a year of celebrations with the upcoming Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, with traditional and nostalgic flavours taking centre stage,” said Jonathan Moore, senior director of food innovation and trends at Asda. “We have gone all out with our showstopping cakes, perfect for street parties and celebrations.”

This stack of pancakes is not what it seems. Cut inside and you’ll find layers of vanilla sponge with salted caramel sauce all decorated to look like a bacon, maple and butter topped stack.

In honour of the upcoming Platinum Jubilee, Asda has created these savoury snacks. They’re made with British chicken in a coronation sauce with apricot and sultanas all wrapped in puff pastry with a turmeric sprinkle.

Adding a burst of flavour, colour and spice to picnics are the Sundried Tomato & Feta Cheese Rolls as part of Asda’s Extra Special range. They’re made with sundried tomatoes, cannellini beans and Greek barrel aged feta cheese wrapped in an all-butter puff pastry topped with an oat and chilli sprinkle.
