Pret A Manger has unveiled new additions to its menu for 2024, including a vegan friendly Bánh Mì and VLT sandwich.
Familiar favourites, including the firm’s iced banana cake, are also being added back to the menu.
“We’re excited to be bringing back many of our customer favourites this year including our beloved Banana Cake and introducing our Veggie Pret bestseller – the VLT – into all Pret shops across the country as we look to ensure we have more vegan friendly and veggie options in our main estate, offering more choice for everyone,” said Katherine Bagshawe, UK food & coffee director at Pret.
“I am passionate about Pret’s menu offering customers choice – be that a range of ingredients, healthier lines versus a treat, we want to make sure our range accommodates the broad tastes and needs of our customers. So, we’ve brought back our much-loved Slims range of sandwiches and baguettes to sit alongside our new snack-sized yoghurt pots and Petite salads allowing customers more mix and match options of their favourites or new creations,” Bagshawe added.
Here’s a closer look at some of the new options:
Sticky Mushroom Bánh Mì
This vegan-friendly option is made with sticky roasted mushrooms dressed in a spicy BBQ sauce with crunchy carrot and mooli slaw, sliced cucumber, coriander, and a dollop of vegan-friendly black pepper and parsley mayo, topped with sesame seeds, and served on a white baguette.
The VLT
Veggie Pret bestseller, The VLT, is joining the main estate menu in all shops, as Pret continues expanding its range of vegetarian and vegan-friendly products in classic shops. This sandwich is made up of shiitake and chestnut mushroom ‘rashers’, sliced tomatoes, salad mix, and a dollop of vegan-friendly black pepper and parsley mayo on malted bread.
Banana Cake
Pret says it has listened to its customers, including A-lister Florence Pugh, and brought back its Banana Cake. Made up of squidgy banana sponge, the cake is topped with cream cheese icing.
Slims range
The Slims range of sandwiches and baguettes are single portions of Pret’s bestsellers, including the Chicken, Avocado & Basil sandwich, Crayfish & Rocket sandwich, Chicken Caesar & Bacon baguette, Avo, Olive & Toms baguette, and Italian Prosciutto baguette. These join an expanded Petite range of smaller salads, which will now include the US-inspired Petite Chicken & Bacon Cobb Salad and the Petite Tricolore Salad featuring mozzarella, sliced avocado, baby plum tomatoes, fresh basil leaves, chargrilled red pepper, French dressing, a sprinkle of seasoning, and a wedge of lemon.
