Waitrose has offered an early look at its Christmas food range, which includes some spectacular festive treats.
Mince pies get a trendy update with a splash of limoncello, meat-lovers can tuck into a wagyu beef pie, and there are dishes for specialist diets. Among the highlights is a sandwich inspired by Christmas leftovers, which was created by a Waitrose customer.
Here’s a selection of innovative dishes being rolled out by the retailer over the coming months.

No.1 Wagyu Beef Pie
This crisp, buttery puff pastry pie is filled with slow-cooked wagyu beef in a wagyu bone marrow and ruby port sauce. The sauce is made with onions sautéed in beef dripping and the pastry is finished with a pastry cow’s head decoration. Waitrose wagyu beef comes from cattle sired by registered pedigree wagyu bulls, a breed renowned for meat that’s naturally marbled with fat, making it succulent with a distinctive rich, savoury flavour.
